Transfers

No transfer in ownership of a Benefit Unit shall be permitted without the approval of the Board of Directors.  No transfer will be approved until all charges against the Benefit Unit are paid in full.  A transfer form must be completely filled out by both the previous owners and the new owners.  This form can be found on the New Service Inquiry page on this website or by contacting the office.  Riley County Rural Water District #1 requires the following before the Board of Directors can approve transfer of a Benefit Unit:
  1. A transfer form must be completely filled out.
  2. A transfer fee must be paid.
  3. A deposit must be paid.
  4. Proof of ownership (a copy of contract of deed stating legal description) provided to the office.
All paperwork, fees and deposit must be taken to the water office 10 days before the closing date.  If the above requirements are not met prior to the closing date, the water meter will be locked and water will not be available until the transfer process is completed.  Until transfer is complete, previous owners are responsible for all water used.

New Owner Transfer Requirements

The Riley County RWD #1 requires the following before any transfer can be completed:

  1. New owner transfer form completely filled out.  Click HERE for the form.
  2. $50.00 transfer fee.
  3. $50.00 final bill security deposit.
  4. Proof of ownership of property, i.e. copy of deed, real estate contract or mortgage contract stating legal description of property.
  5. Proof of identity - required by law - picture ID.

Pay Online or make checks payable to "RCRW1"

$50.00 for transfer fee and $50.00 for security deposit



New Renter Transfer Requirements

The Riley County RWD #1 requires the following before any transfer can be completed:

  1. New renter transfer form completely filled out.  Click HERE for the form.
  2. $25.00 transfer fee.
  3. $50.00 final bill security deposit

New Benefit Unit Purchase Requirements

Purchasing a Benefit Unit from Riley County RWD #1 entitles you the right to obtain and purchase water.  There are several requirements that must be met in order to purchase and own a Benefit Unit.

The Riley County RWD #1 requires the following before purchase of a Benefit Unit can be approved:

​Payment of $4,000.00 for a Benefit Unit.
  1. Completed Benefit Unit application.  Click HERE for part 1 of the application, click HERE for part 2 of the application.
  2. Pay the $50 final bill security deposit required by Riley County RWD #1.
  3. Easement signed by owner(s) of the property along with a legal description of the property. 
  4. Proof of ownership of the property, i.e. copy of deed.
  5. Proof of identity - required by law - picture ID.

Pay Online or make checks payable to "RCRW1"

$4,000.00 for the purchase of the Benefit Unit and $50.00 for security deposit.

Failure to remit any of the above will result in a delay in obtaining water.
